You will be alerted when a compatible mydlink camera hears a 75dB or higher smoke and/or CO detector’s alarm with industry standard T3/T4 alarm signal. Follow the instructions below to test whether your D-Link camera can recognize your smoke/CO detectors and whether the camera is within proper range to listen for the sound of your detectors.
Before testing, make sure of the following:
- Your camera supports the smoke/CO alarm detection feature.
- The room where the camera and the alarm are placed doesn’t create echoes and doesn’t have sounds that are louder than the alarm.
Follow the steps below to start the test:
Step 1: Launch the mydlink app.
Step 2: Tap the setting icon in the upper left corner (3 horizontal lines) and then tap Automations.
Step 3: Tap + to add a new rule.
Step 4: Tap the camera you want to detect and select “Smoke/CO alarm detected” event. Tap Next.
Step 5: Tap to select the action you want to trigger with this event. Then tap Next.
Step 6: Tap Save. You’ve just created one automation for your smoke/CO alarm detection feature.
Step 7: Activate the alarm on your smoke or CO detector by pressing the test button.
If you receive a “Smoke/CO alarm detected” push notification on your mobile device, it means your camera can recognize the alarm signal and is within proper range.
If you don’t receive the push notification:
- Your smoke or CO detector might not emit a T3 or T4 alarm signal. Refer to the instructions that came with your smoke/CO detectors to determine if your alarm emits the industry standard Temporal T3 (Smoke) and T4 (CO) alarm patterns in accordance with current UL and National Fire Protection Association guidelines.
- There are too many background noises in the room, or your camera is too far away from your smoke or CO detector and cannot detect the sound properly. Move the camera closer to your smoke or CO detector and perform the test again.
