How does the smoke and CO alarm detection work?

The D-Link cameras’ smoke/CO detection is designed to detect the industry-standard Temporal Three (T3) and Temporal Four (T4) alarm patterns set by the National Fire Protection Association and UL. With the alarm detection feature, you can set up an automation rule to be alerted with instant push notifications when a T3 or T4 alarm signal is detected.

- Smoke detectors with Temporal Three (T3): three intermittent beeps, followed by a period of silence.

- CO detectors with Temporal Four (T4): four intermittent beeps, followed by a period of silence

The alarm detection feature doesn’t recognize alarms with other patterns. We recommend you test your alarm to ensure it emits a T3 or T4 alarm signal before you set up an automation rule with smoke/CO alarm detection.

Note: CO/Smoke Alarm Sound Detection accuracy may be influenced by multiple factors and should not be relied upon in circumstances where there is any risk of injury to yourself or others, or in emergencies and other high-risk situations.
