What things do I need to consider when binding dual controllers on DSN-5000 series SAN?

When Binding dual controllers on a DSN-5000 series SAN, you must ensure the following:

  • Both controllers MAC Address must start with the first 4 Characterse.g. Controller #1- 00-21-33-44-33-33 / Controller #2- 00-21-44-54-33-21
  • Firmware must be identical on both Controllers
  • If the 2nd controller is installed while the SAN is live, the SAN must be reboot initiate the binding process
  • Only SAS drives are installed. (The controllers will not bind using SATA)
  • Physical connections (Management and Data ports) on each controller must be connected to the same switch. (All physical connections on each controller must be mirrored)
