How do I enable Smart Mesh Roaming on my range extender?

NOTE: The following range extenders support Smart Mesh Roaming with the latest firmware:

  • DAP-1325
  • DAP-1530
  • DAP-1610
  • DAP-1620-EXO
  • DAP-1755
  • DAP-1820
  • DAP-1955

 

Requirement for Smart Mesh Roaming:

1. Your Range Extender's Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and Wi-Fi password must be the same as your router.

 

2. Your connecting devices (Phone/laptop etc..) must support 802.11K/V standard 

 

NOTE: Most newer devices (iPhones/iPads, Android phones, etc.) support 802.11K/V.

 

 


 

 

To change the Wireless network name and password of your extender 

 

Step 1: Log in to your range extender. To log in, open a web browser and enter http://dlinkap.local. or the IP address of the extender. Enter your Admin Password in the field provided. If you have not changed the password from the default setting, the password field should be left blank. Click Log In.

 

Step 2: Click on Settings > Extender 

 

 

Step 3: Under Extended Wi-Fi, Change the Wi-Fi name (SSID) and password for the Extended Wi-Fi to the same Wi-Fi name (SSID) and password as your home Wi-Fi network. 

 

 

 

Step 4: Click Save
