What is Smart Connect?
Smart Connect creates a 'single' wireless network for your devices to connect to. Behind the scenes, the router automatically determines whether to connect a device to the 2.4 or 5 GHz band, thereby providing the best speed and range for each device and optimally distributing devices to each network. Smart Connect is enabled by default.

You can turn this feature off and assign separate Wi-Fi network names (SSID) and passwords for each band by following the steps below:

Step 1: Open your web browser and type in http://dlinkrouter.local. or type in the IP address of the router (default - http://192.168.0.1).

Step 2: Enter your password and click Log In.

Step 3: Go to Settings and click Wireless.

Step 4: Next to Smart Connect, click to disable.

Step 5: The wireless settings for each band will now appear. Configure your settings and then click Save.
