D-Link's Response - Cr1ptT0r Ransomware Infects D-Link NAS Devices

On February 22, 2019 D-Link was made aware of the Criptor Ransomware targeting D-Link Network Attached Storage (NAS). D-Link is investigating this devices against information know at this time. Public post from Bleeping Computer : HERE

 

Since 2014, the D-Link NAS family has received a number of firmware updates to address know security issues. We strongly urge users to update to the latest firmware referenced below as we complete our investigation.

 

D-Link does not recommend exposing a D-Link DNS Model directly to the internet, The purpose of the product is to share files on a local area network, or utilize the mydlink NAS moblie application with the mydlink compatible models.

 

 

Description of Security Issue:

 

If the NAS is successfully attacked it will encrypt file and demand the user pay a fee to have the decrypted. Please upgrade to the latest firmware for your model. The only known way for these type of ransomware can be mitigated is to reformat you entire NAS which will result in the loss of all stored information.
